It has not been a good 48 hours.

So, looks like my attempt to keep up the blogging thing failed.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been running a few different one or two-session games to introduce one group of players to a few different systems.

Last weekend I picked up “Portal: The Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game”.

I’ve recently got into playing Dungeons & Dragons, DM-ing for two groups of friends.

So as part of my plans for the new year is consolidating my tools.

So it’s the end of another year.

So, it’s been a while, huh?

The past year has been pretty busy. As of two days ago, I’ve been working at Bardel for a full year. It’s been a pretty crazy year.

The biggest thing that’s happened is learning about OpenStack. Basically, the software that helps run the Rackspace Cloud that’s been cleaned up and open-sourced. I’ve also been boning up on my devops skills – Jenkins, Puppet, and a few other tools.

I’m in the market for a new cell phone. I have been for the past year or so. First I was putting off getting a new phone because I was waiting for the Nexus 6. At the time I started wanting a new phone, the Nexus 6 was still just “whatever phone Google comes out with next”. It wasn’t named, I didn’t know specs, I didn’t know when it was going to be released.

I just knew that I wanted to wait for the phone after the Nexus 5.

I stumbled onto Coda Hale’s post about how to safely store a password earlier this week. In it, he discusses how to safely store a users’ password on your system in order to authenticate that user.

Basically, he advocates using bcrypt. However, that post was written five years ago ( actually, five years ago this month ).

How about something (possibly) better?
