Heartland
Built on top of the Zend Framework, "I Love Heartland" is a social collaboration network for the fans of the 'Heartland' television show. The site has many areas which allow users to share and create new content based on the television show. The site is also host to the "Heartland Mixed Media Magazine", an online interactive magazine created using Flash.
The site has several sections to enable users to share and create content. A special forum was created that highlights posts in a blog-like format. Using Flash, two user content creation tools were created. The first one was a gallery, which lets users upload photos which can be commented on by other users. The second content creation tool is a story writing tool, which lets users create 'fan fiction'. Both types of content can be entered in contests that are occasionally run using the custom contest module created for the website.
This site was my introduction to the Zend Framework, and also a crash course in using an MVC framework to create a website. I was also introduced to the Dojo Toolkit, although I've worked with the jQuery toolkit in the past, I enjoyed using Dojo quite a bit more.
